Museum fun. L.A. Culture.

In my last L.A. Culture post, I told you about some great things you could do, and had expressed there were a couple more things I would write about once I'd visited them. Well here they are! During this holiday season, you may be concerned about spending extra money to go out or you may find yourself overwhelmed by the holiday to-do's. Hopefully neither of those is the case for you, but if so, you can rest assured that outings to these locations will not only be easy on your wallet but they will be easy on your time schedule as well.

The first is The Skirball Center:
What attracted my attention was their "Women hold Up Half The Sky" exhibit. I had passed by Skirball many times but finally had my first visit recently when this exhibit peaked my interest. I really loved the whole museum especially their method of creating the exhibits. So fun! I loved being taken away to the times and places depicted. For those interested and able, you can visit the entire museum for FREE on Thursdays. It's a lovely space perfect for all ages. There is also a cafe and gift shop along with a fabulous range of exhibits all made incredibly interesting by allowing you to interact with and / or enjoy the information with their signage, displays, and media. The second recommendation is The Getty Villa:
This spectacular museum is located in Malibu, which will provide a delight on the way there and back as you will be greeted by delicious views of the ocean. Admission is always FREE (you print out your timed entry ticket online & pay $15 for parking.) This space is filled with antiquities dating back as far as 200 BC. They have gorgeous grounds, dazzling statues, and media along with exhibits and interactive tours for you to enjoy. There is a cafe that serves organic foods, a coffee stand, and you can even order a glass of wine or beer if you'd like. My favorite thing was the ability to touch a gorgeous marble statue of Venus. I had never experienced anything like it. Imagine the feel of a human body made out of marble! She felt so real... Here are some pictures. I hope you like them!

Culturally cool stuff in Los Angeles....

Hello loves, I know it's been a while. I've been living and learning. Trying new things and spending time on my craft of acting, spending time crafting my life, my vision. I am enjoying new foods, places, and examining lifestyles that are new to me too. I love to learn and I firmly believe that learning every day keeps me vibrant and alive. Plus, I find it really fun. 

In the process of doing new things I've come across some things I'd like to recommend. There is only 1 item on this list you cannot go and do but I am going to include some pics so you can enjoy a little bit of what I've seen. Ok, here it goes!

MUSEUM OF TOLERANCE: I just went there today for the first time and was not only moved but educated on how bigotry affects all people across the world even today. You can learn about the holocaust, about things that have gone on in the beginning of our nation, our recent past, and that are going on now. I found it very enlightening and thought provoking. I was also stoked because I found something I had wanted for quite some time. 

BEAUTY CULTURE: I visited this FREE exhibit last week and was totally inspired and educated by it. There were so many interesting perspectives to be considered. Great photography, artistry through makeup, and the dark side of our beauty perceptions and how we feel pressured to strive towards those ideals. The space is stunning and won't take up your whole day. Plus, all you have to pay for is parking. Get validated to reduce the cost of that ( to less than 5 dollars.) :)

TIM BURTON EXHIBIT LACMA: This was my Halloween treat. I have loved Tim Burton's work and have seen almost every movie he has ever been involved with. I have also seen some of his shorts.. Not only was I glad to have a happy Halloween due to this, but the fact Halloween was the last day of the exhibit, only made it more special for me. The link provided above will let you enjoy quite a bit and hopefully some of the photos below will too....

This week I am going to enjoy another museum for the first time. There is an exhibit there that I am very excited to see, I don't recommend things unless I have done them personally so I will let you know how that one pans out once I attend. Hopefully you enjoy some of the great places listed above. A couple others I have been to and liked are The Getty Center & The La Brea Tar Pits.

Don't Blog With Your Mouth Full!!

Italian dry salami. Kettle cooked jalapeno chips. Crunchy, yummy, oh so good yet totally in the way of my writing process. Aaargh!! As I attempt to load my next mouthful and not lose my train of thought I notice I seem to have nailed down the quick bite / fingertip napkin swipe. YES! Nasty keyboards, not my thing.

Where oh where is the technology that will magically wi-fi my thoughts onto my computer screen. Steve Jobs? Apple wizards?? Alas, I digress.....

I felt this blog title was perfect not only to illustrate my very immediate situation but also to address the message at large which has to do with all of the things I'm currently working on. I have thoughts of taking on completely new ventures. There's so much. It's like my mouth is full of a yummy morsel, there's more on my full plate, and I wanna chat and chew at the same time! These ventures will include my artistic heart but my artistry wouldn't be the main focus. Making it all new, new, new. I consider this a tremendous breakthrough because I have been struggling with where my arts could fit in to my life today. Everything around me has been changing and I've been feeling called to do something more.

I can't reveal everything now but I can say that after modifying my vision board yesterday I woke up today ready to take charge. I tackled my items with purpose. I signed up for various volunteer activities. I discussed a new plan I have with my husband. I asked a question that lead to revealing a little of what I'm thinking of to my roommate. Then while making lunch, an idea... After coming back to my desk, 4 more.

It is my belief that we are all beautiful divine beings up to amazing things as we interact with each other through our lives. I believe the circumstances that surround us are miracle filled. I believe that we create our own destiny. That thoughts are things and that work and faith are the arms that carry those thoughts out into the world. I also believe that it doesn't have to be hard.
