Today I Signed Up To Work For FREE & No, I'm Not A Sucker...

On this day I decided to step out and take action on a feeling I had a couple weeks ago. It started when hubby and I went for lunch and I noticed a thrift shop. That chance encounter had me going in the place, meeting the owner, and discussing philanthropy with him. I was invited to join their team. Three weeks later, I was back and ready to speak about this opportunity further.

This meeting went nothing like I expected. To be honest this whole encounter has been unexpected and yet, that is part of it's charm. I went in there ready to present. To show. To handle sh*t. What can I say? That's how I work.... Then I discovered a laid back approach and flow that I wasn't used to. There was an openness, a trust that is lovely. I was asked questions. I was listened to. I was presented with a lot of information and not very much at all. It was a whirlwind. I feel invigorated, excited, and challenged a bit. This is something completely different for me.

I am faced with the task of generating a website, marketing, online presence, and fund generation for them. I plan to do it in a week's time.

Merriam Webster defines philanthropist as "a wealthy person who gives money and time to help make life better for other people."

This is what I see myself as. This is how I live my life. Right now my bank account disagrees with my new title. I say my bank account is a liar. Actually, I just think my bank account is taking some time to catch up to me... things move fast in my world. :D

No matter what I know I have more than enough. This notion is so powerful sometimes it's hard to believe even when it's happening right in front of me! I'm not going to say living this truth happens mindlessly for me yet but I will say that I recognize it and do my best to foster those feelings every day. It is no coincidence that blessings surround me and touch me. I had been so wrapped up in the how it recently dawned on me that I enjoy unexpected money and favor all over the place! Perhaps it's coming to me indirectly because there is something else I have to learn in the area of giving and receiving. Either way, I'm a wiling student.

Is there something you are wanting to do but taking your time on? What are some of the ways you feel you better the world?

Don't Blog With Your Mouth Full!!

Italian dry salami. Kettle cooked jalapeno chips. Crunchy, yummy, oh so good yet totally in the way of my writing process. Aaargh!! As I attempt to load my next mouthful and not lose my train of thought I notice I seem to have nailed down the quick bite / fingertip napkin swipe. YES! Nasty keyboards, not my thing.

Where oh where is the technology that will magically wi-fi my thoughts onto my computer screen. Steve Jobs? Apple wizards?? Alas, I digress.....

I felt this blog title was perfect not only to illustrate my very immediate situation but also to address the message at large which has to do with all of the things I'm currently working on. I have thoughts of taking on completely new ventures. There's so much. It's like my mouth is full of a yummy morsel, there's more on my full plate, and I wanna chat and chew at the same time! These ventures will include my artistic heart but my artistry wouldn't be the main focus. Making it all new, new, new. I consider this a tremendous breakthrough because I have been struggling with where my arts could fit in to my life today. Everything around me has been changing and I've been feeling called to do something more.

I can't reveal everything now but I can say that after modifying my vision board yesterday I woke up today ready to take charge. I tackled my items with purpose. I signed up for various volunteer activities. I discussed a new plan I have with my husband. I asked a question that lead to revealing a little of what I'm thinking of to my roommate. Then while making lunch, an idea... After coming back to my desk, 4 more.

It is my belief that we are all beautiful divine beings up to amazing things as we interact with each other through our lives. I believe the circumstances that surround us are miracle filled. I believe that we create our own destiny. That thoughts are things and that work and faith are the arms that carry those thoughts out into the world. I also believe that it doesn't have to be hard.

With that said, there will be more coming, so please stay tuned. Is there something new you're thinking of taking on?

Lucky? This doesn't feel lucky.. Actor tales

Rainy day in L.A. Things move slower when this happens, this is an actual truth not myth. Had an audition today. Good stuff. I was looking forward to it. Got up got ready got out. Arrived, signed in, and waited.... after an hour's time elapsed, I finally left to find my "lucky charm"

Bunko. : /

Well see how lucky my charm really is.. when I confirm booking the spot! LOL Right now, I'm happy to be inside typing away from my home office, listening to the rain outside my window. Believe me also when I say that Saturday and Sunday's arrivals are welcome ones.

This will be the second parking ticket I've gotten while out on audition. I mention this for any other business artists that are interested in true finacial calculations. These unexpected expenses do add up. Factor in the cost of agency fees, training, marketing materials, memberships, etc. It is important to watch your bottom line. It also does reflect a truth. This path is far from a get rich quick, "Cribs" style MTV extravaganza. There's a reason why sage advisors recommend strongly coming into this only if you really love it.

Another day in the life right?? :) All we can do is our best. As for this parking ticket myth, let's see.. I'll keep you posted. ;)

Your job is to do what??? I'm an Actor.

Heyo!! LOL If you know where that comes from and comment it, you will get a prize. For now though, I can't help but chuckle... Heyo!! LOL Here we go.

I had asked a few friends via facebook whether or not I should blog actor tales and after a resounding yes, here we are, my first one. As an Actor, there are many stages of victory and or defeat. Like anything else, your outlook will determine a lot of your success and or failure or at least that is what my experience has taught me... Then again, one could argue that even our experiences are dictated to ourselves by ourselves via the subconscious. So what about acting? Well....

I tend to take the glass half full approach and am currently experiencing what I categorize as wins.

1. My Commercial / Print Agency is absolute genius for me. I feel so at home with them and they work so well for me. I do alot of auditioning with them and am glad to have such a perfect fit.

2. My Management has been awesome. I've gotten a few audition calls from them recently which has been a cool bonus.

3. Auditions have been a blast! Whether improv, voice over, script memorization, reactions, or just a "look", I been having such a good time. :D I also feel like I'm getting to know some of these casting directors and some of my fellow actors.

Tomorrow I have 3 auditions to look forward to. Today I had 2. The other day was the first time I'd had auditions scheduled I didn't really want to go to. After going and then hearing a Casting Director complaining, I shrugged it off and figured I had just had an off day. Low and behold, I got a call back and hold from that audition!

What I have been taking from these experiences is a real "seize the day" approach to life. Not only when I'm in the room auditioning and scheduling auditions throughout my day but also when I am not auditioning or "off". It's been really great. Hence all the nature & uplifting blogs below.. :)

Anyway, this is a snapshot into my life as an Actor, cheers to success for us all and joy along the way.

To the moon!! Financially speaking...

What day is it Tuesday? Gosh February 8th huh?? Here we go! I have been so excited to be working towards my new found goals that I have been focused in like a LASER! There has been a big shift in my world having to do with finances and the like. Since I have been so inspired, I wanted to share this info with you, that is of course, if you could stand to earn and keep more of your money.

Now there are many practical things I am up to in the world of business and money. I hope to open up a dialog that includes that information for those truly interested but you'd be surprised how so much starts with your state of mind. So I figure a very good place to begin is within...

My first highly recommended read:

While I make no guarantees of anything, I have personally read and I personally endorse this book as being what I think to be a great start on your path to financial success.

So let's go TO THE MOON! Financially speaking that is, who's with me?!

Washington, TOMORROW!!

So stoked I get to fly out tomorrow for a commercial shoot. It'll be my first time to Washington, they've been having snow, and it's for an acting job. TRIPLE BONUS!! :D

Hopefully I'll be ok with the weather. I don't even have snow gear so I plan on wearing tons of layers. Oh geez, I'll be like Ralphie's little brother from A Christmas Story unable to put my hands down! LOL I plan on taking tons of pics and sharing it so we can all experience Washington. Who knows? I may blog from there!

No seriously, I don't know how much time I'll be spending online as it's a quick trip with busy days and a whole lotta new I can't wait to soak in. I will probably Tweet though so check out my Twitter page and no matter WHAT you do, come on back and visit me ya hear?

Actorfest Los Angeles, what an inspiring day!!

Hundreds of Actors, Downtown L.A., workshops, panels, and more. This past Saturday, 11/6/10 was awesome! I had never heard of Actorfest before, so when I came across information on it about a month ago I was really excited. After all, I have trained and I've met other actors briefly in auditions and classes but a whole day dedicated to both seemed so exciting to me I couldn't pass it up. I am so glad I went. Upon arrival there were throngs of actors in different lines and I wanted to take a picture to capture it all but my desire to get in the right line for processing and making it inside on time won out. I did however take a picture of the view from my first workshop, check it out!

A workshop on mastering the audition, along with panels filled with television and film casting directors had my brain on overload. I learned some great stuff but most of all I left so inspired! I got to meet some nice fellow actors too. A girl named Taylor who flew out from Kentucky for the day! Another girl named Michelle from Canada, a sweetheart named Angel, and a nice French girl with the coolest accent and the loveliest name, Veronique...

The drive home had me looking up literally and figuratively. I don't hang out in Downtown L.A. too much so I couldn't help but snap a pic of my view!

Once on the freeway, I caught a glimpse of the sky and I tell you it perfectly matched how I felt inside. Plus, I thought it looked so beautiful.

I mean what a day, I was so energized once I got home I couldn't help but dump my goodie bag out on my bed and go through all the great info and cool stuff I got. Later this week, I'm going to dig in a little further.

I asked every Actor I came in contact with if they had been to Actorfest before and not a single person was a repeat visit (I hear it is held once a year.) As for me, I'd be open to going again next year. Of course, if I do, I'll have a different game plan to switch things up a little bit. Over all, it was a fantastic time. Thanks for reliving my Saturday with me. Cheers to networking, knowledge, and fun.
